Common rule
- Singular Subject ( Uncountable Noun, singular countable noun) + Singular Verb
- Plural Subject ( Plural countable Noun) + Plural Verb



Rule 1: Các danh từ nối với nhau bằng And
- Hai danh từ chỉ hai sự vật khác nhau kết hợp với động từ số nhiều (plural V)
Ex : Rice and coffee from Vietnam are exported to many countries.
- Hai danh từ nhưng có chung một ý tưởng hoặc hướng đến một chủ thể thì kết hợp với động từ số ít ( S.V)
Ex : Bread and butter is my favourite food ( = Bread with butter on it)
My close friend and my adviser, Tom, is coming here tomorrow ( = Tom)

Rule 2 : Các danh từ nối với nhau bằng or, either….or, neither….nor, not….but, not only….but also động từ chia theo danh từ thứ hai

Ex : Not only alcohol but also cigarettes are banned in the campus
Neither my friends nor I come to the party

Rule 3 : Các danh từ nối với nhau bằng with, like, as well as, together with, along with, in addition to, other than, accompanied with…. Động từ được chia theo danh từ thứ nhất

Ex : The manager, together with his assistants, has arrived.

Rule 4 : Danh từ theo sau các từ Each, every và one

Each/ every + Singular N + Singular V
Each of / One of + Plural N + Singular V
Ex : Each student / each of the students has to do homework

Rule 5: Some, part, all, most, almost, the rest, the remainder, majority, none + of…. Và các phân số theo sau bởi động từ số ít hay số nhiều phụ thuộc vào danh từ số ít hoặc số nhiều

Ex : Most of the house was destroyed
Most of the tomatoes were too ripe
